I don't have a twitter account, but I've thought about the Curious eye color thing too, and the only way to explain it is that one parent had brown with a green recessive and one parent had dark blue with a light blue recessive. Or you could switch who had what recessive. Not that any of the Curious siblings have recessives to match that theory, much less Lazlo and Pascal coming with blond recessives.
But I'd imagine the real reason is that no one thought about it, and at this point I think we've both given it more thought than their creators did.
Or the milk man came around once or twice. ;) While Pascal and Lazlo kinda sorta resemble their dad, Vidcund and Jenny don't look anything like their parents other than having Kitty's hair color.
Interesting theory... any chance of that showing up in your story?
And then to make matters worse, Jenny does look like Chloe and Lola, them all being based on face 2, but the only parent they share is Glarn, who we've already established she doesn't look like. And while Vidcund and Jenny don't really look alike at all, Johnny sort of has his uncle's nose. The whole thing makes no sense.
Or the milk man came around once or twice That wouldn't be weird, though, considering Glarn had such double life, imo!! XD Having kids with aliens that no one knew about, and what about Glabe!? Was he with her at the time he was with Kitty? (considering Chloe's age, he probably was...)
Yeah, I never understood why the wiki insists Chloe and Lola absolutely must be older than Jenny (thanks to the Elixir of Life, of course *takes a shot*). I think the "secret double family" thing makes more sense.
ARG! The wiki!! *shakes fist* Imho, it shouldn't be trusted too much anymore. It used to be pretty accurate, but apparently, at some point, someone started making changes on it, and now a lot of the info there is just so off it's not even funny! (I've even seen relationships, like love/crushes, that don't exist in the game by default!)
As for Glarn/Glabe, I worked on Strangetown "prequel" a few years ago and that was, at least, my take on their backstory. The actual story never got too far (and was posted on a forum, not here) but I have a few spam posts in my LJ about it. (tagged: "Past". I even recreated their houses based on the org. household screenshots. It was fun!)
Ooh, conspiracy theories. Double like, you say? I like that.
You're right, the only thing that implies that Chloe & Lola are older than Jenny is the order of the pictures in the Curious photo album... Hmm.
Yeah, the Wiki is pretty bad. The description about the "Ottomas glitch" makes me twitch. (It has nothing to do with the Ottomas family, it's a pre-seasons-patch glitch related to pregnant sims and hood merging - it even happened to the Critturs first, but apparently no one noticed this because they're dogs.) Ahem.
And unless I'm missing something there isn't much implying that Glarn and Glabe were even married, either. The wiki show them as "divorced", but sounds to me like is more an assumption than anything. I don't know if there's any mention, memory, or hints about any of them being actually "divorced" in game. (correct me if I'm wrong, tho, maybe there're hidden memories or something I haven't seen before)
The other explanation (for the sisters' age) would be that aliens age slower than other sims, but only some hybrid spawns actually inherit this trait. This could explain Nine's age, and the age difference between Chloe and Lola with the Curious, as much as their own age difference if they were twins. (I personally don't think they are, but it fits that mysterious picture! :P)
I was considering including Chloe/Lola as teens in my story, but all the confusion over their ages broke my brain and I decided just to make them adults like Jenny with no mention of who is older. So the reader can decide themselves!
You are correct, there's nothing indicating that Glarn and Glabe were married - besides Glabe's last name and lack of relationship ties to any other Curiouses, and the fact that she raised Lola & Chloe. But that could have many other explanations as well. We don't know that they were divorced, and it shouldn't be put on the wiki as if it were fact.
I've gone for the "aliens age more slowly" explanation too, but right now I'm not really sure. :P EAxis did quite badly screw up the whole Lola & Chloe side of the family, with the family ties and all. I still like to believe they're twins, even if their ages are a bit off. I also choose to disregard Glarn still having a pregnant belly in that picture with the alien babies, because I don't think it means anything except that EAxis messed it up. :P
LOL but if everything had a logic explanation it wouldn't be Strangetown! ROFL Tbh, I mostly enjoy all the holes in the story there, it gives a lot of space to play around :P (except for the sibling/cousins messed up relationships, because that's just too weird for me! O_o)
Maybe things didn't go so smoothly with Glarn's abductions for some reason, maybe he was one of the first sims abducted, or maybe Nine wasn't all that good at his job and screwed up some how! It could be so many things :P
Or maybe...there's a long lost third Curious alien child! Conspiracy!
The wiki's "He divorced her and she still raised the kids that he abandoned" thing never sat right with me. I mean, there are people who would do that, but that kind of claim needs something to support it.
I just ran across that the other day and thought "Really? I thought that was just speculation?" Glad to have that confirmed, I was worried it might be canon.
The wiki drives me crazy sometimes. The editors don't seem to know the difference between "fanon" and canon and inferences and facts. It's like they're assuming everyone plays the game the exact same way and adheres strictly to the guidelines/hints set up by the game creators. That's just not what The Sims is about to me.
I also hate the 'These two townies/NPCs have the same generic last name from the name list. Maybe they're related!' entries in there. Yeah, um, no. No, they're not.
I have to face palm every time I see the "Mary Sue is a Mary Sue" thing, because I strongly, strongly doubt the creators knew anything about that fannish term, especially back when they were first making the game. But there seem to be some people who hate her just because of her name!
I do think it's very possible the creators of Pleasantview did name her after the Mary Sue fan term, though, because they did put a whole lot of other nerdy references in the game ("Prisoner of Azkalamp", "Brickrolled", etc) and Mary Sue is a very old term, dating back to when several of the programmers were kids. But if anything, they named her so out of irony, playing into the theme that the Pleasants are perfect on the outside, but very imperfect below the surface.
Slightly unrelated, but I'm also sick of people who LOVE Lilith but HATE Angela. :P
Ah yes. Apparently "dreams of being a seaboat captain" translates to shallow, preppy, cheerleader, mean girl princess! I don't know how many nice points she has but I'm pretty sure it's more than Lilith. (Though that's the parents fault)
Though I do feel sorry for Lilith, though. I start the game and her whole family starts smacking her around...that's not cool.
Angela has more points in pretty much everything than Lilith. It irritates me that people seem to think there has to be a mean twin and a victim twin, and that Lilith is all misunderstood and innocent. I like more... balance. :P
Also, I must have something that prevents violence between teens and adults - as there's no 'fight' interactions available between them at all, except 'throw drink', but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. D: It's been there for ages, too, and I thought it was default game behaviour, but turns out that others get these interactions just fine. ...Not that I'm for abuse or anything, but in some relationships/story-type things it'd be useful.
I remember, tho, when Sims2 came out, a lot of people were hating on Lilith because she was so difficult to play, and I think the "but it's not Lilith's fault!" thing was a bit of a backlash to that - at least I know it influenced me.
I like them both now, and am kinda sad I only have one in the merged hood I'm playing (I randomly killed off about half)
This is the approach I took when cleaning up Strangetown. Even though the parents are unresurrectable stubs, they have correct genetics in my version, and the Curious siblings all have the correct recessives. :P
I was looking at simsecret when it hit the phone. There was an almost overwhelming sense of relevance.
As a token "Y" I sometimes wonder if it would even be possible to engender (oops) the level of spite that others seem to get without effort in this comm.
Oh shit. Just noticed we're surrounded on all sides by teal deer. (Self-evident ones fortunately.)

I don't tweet but I do follow. Couldn't think of anywhere else to toss in this two cents.
